Wellcome!

For years people all over the world admire the great work of profesor Tolkien's fantasy world. His genius talent gave us all not only a nice novell, but a whole universe with history, legends, wars, poetry and much more. Languages spoken by peoples of Middle Earth have also their written form. Quenya, Sindarin and other languages used Tengwar. There are many pages about the alphabet itself on the web. Of course sooner or later someone came with the idea of transcription software.

YaTT: Yet Another Tengwar Tool

YaTT is a Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP utility designed to help you type in Dan Smith's or compatible tengwar fonts and transcribe documents.

To this day it is the only software capable of TRANSCRIPTING BOTH WAYS (into and from tengwar). It also provides option to transcribe text in other applications (text editors etc.) including special support for MS Word. Since ver 1.0 YaTT supports user defined multilingual dictionaries.

YaTT is FREEWARE for personal use. Should you want to use it for commercial purposes, please contact the author to discuss the conditions. No changes to the files are allowed. If you have any comments or suggestions or perhaps money :-) you would like to share with the author, you are wellcome!

In this version I improved the way YaTT selects the fotns for the scrolling inscription.

YaTT lite for Linux beta available!

February 19, 2002

Finally after a huge effort I managed to port YaTT into Linux platform. YaTT lite 1.0 beta is an experimental release, please keep it in mind. I'll be happy for your support in this project. The distribution lacks mode or dictionary files, you will need to supply those on your own from the Win32 YaTT distribution. There are two Qt libraries necessary to run the program, follow the link to them at the bottom of the page.

YaTT 1.2.0 is out!

February 10, 2002

A lot has happened since verion 1.1. There were so many changes that they already deserved the new version. The new version features a correct behaviour when processing vast amount of texts. The transcription can be interrupted by ESC key. Appropriate changes affected both the DLL and a main code.

Published Service Pack for 1.1.5

February 4, 2002

The old 1.1.5 was not compiled correctly which caused program to require additional DLLs. This error should be hopefuly corrected in the new 1.1.5 version. I apologize to everyone.
SORRY, SORRY, SORRY!
I too make errors just as anyone else. ;-)

Published YaTT 1.1.5

February 2, 2002

This version improves dictionary keyword lookup function. I also added scrollbars to both panes.

Version YaTT 1.1.4

January 26, 2002

This update addes a caret position indicator to the statusbar and fixes a few small bugs. Again users that already have version 1.1.x installed only need to download the upgrade.

Version 1.1.3

January 8, 2002

This update features improved Third-party transcription. Now any control in your system can have a tengwar text! (Win9x) I also added Third-party Application tool buttons, so that you can launch useful tools like ModeEdit directly from YaTT.

Version 1.1.2

January 3, 2002

This service pack fixes the clipboard-related 1.1 specific bugs. Users that already have verion 1.1.0 or above only need to download the service pack, others should download the whole 1.1.2 package.

Version 1.1.1

January 1, 2002

This service pack fixes two bugs that were missed in version 1.1 (thirdparty and existing MSWord document transcriptions). In the download section you can either download new version 1.1.1 or download just the Service Pack 1 that upgrades version 1.1 to 1.1.1.
